Sharon Edwards, Family Support volunteer for CLAN WA Armadale has created a ‘Surviving the school holidays’ guide after experiencing links with families stressed about the long school holiday break. This booklet aims to reduce anxiety about the holidays and we are very grateful for Sharon’s time, effort, energy, knowledge, passion and strengths she contributed to this resource.
Surviving the School Holidays Guide
CLAN WA would like to thank and acknowledge the City of South Perth for providing funding under their Community Development Program in 2009. The grant of $4,992.00 was awarded to CLAN WA to provide a range of parenting and relationship courses to families in the City of South Perth and surrounding areas throughout the year. This has been an exciting opportunity to work with the City to foster the support and access to parenting services for families with children. We will continue to provide a small number of parenting courses in 2010 to cater to the number of families who have requested the program continue.
Mental Health Week ‘Blue Sky Day’ on Sunday October 11th 2009 was a huge success for the CLAN WA indigo Team. www.blueskyday.com.au.
We provided an information stall with activities for families to enjoy. Hundreds of badges and magnets were made using STRENGTH stickers and lots of Glitter. We had the opportunity to talk to people about what we offer to families. Heritage FM (local Armadale radio station) gave us the chance to talk about how mental health problems impact families and discuss our Mental Health First Aid courses.
A huge thanks to Jo Hanley our indigo Project Worker for all her hard work in making the stall a great success – a job well done.
